Sensory modulation is a bottom up approach that is more accessible when an individual is in crisis. This session will consider the evidence for the use of this approach for service users with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder and disordered eating as well as benefits and potential barriers to its implementation in practice.
I recently moved into a lecturer post at University of Liverpool but prior to this have around 12 years’ experience working as an occupational therapist in mental health in-patient settings including a unit for women with a diagnosis of personality disorder and disordered eating. I am an Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner and have a passion for supporting others in developing the use of sensory approaches in mental health settings.
