Phillippa Diedrichs is a Professor of Psychology at the Centre for Appearance Research, University of the West of England. She leads a team of researchers responsible for co-creating and evaluating body image and eating disorder prevention interventions. This is underpinned by her research investigating predictors and outcomes of body image concerns among child and adult populations, spanning topics such as advertising, social media, gender norms, and appearance-based prejudice.
The evidence-based programmes that Professor Diedrichs has co-created and evaluated have been delivered to 60 million young people across the globe. Phillippa has served as an advisor to the British Government on issues relating to body image and women’s empowerment, including the Minister for Women and Equalities, and the Mayor of London. She regularly consults for businesses and organizations on research and advocacy (e.g., Unilever, Instagram, NHS England, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts).
